About the Company

Our client is a well-established food manufacturing company specializing in Italian-style cured meats and ready-to-eat food products . With a strong commitment to craftsmanship, tradition, and innovation, the company operates 2 production facilities on the same campus in the US, maintaining high standards in food safety, quality, and operational efficiency.

Purpose of the Position

The Production Manager will oversee and drive day-to-day manufacturing operations across 2 production facilities, ensuring safety, quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction while complying with USDA and HACCP regulations.

This role is responsible for:

  • Leading a team of Production Supervisors and the Maintenance Team
  • Optimizing production processes to improve efficiency and reduce costs
  • Ensuring compliance with food safety and operational regulations
  • Actively participating in the design and execution of new production investments
  • Coordinating with procurement teams to optimize raw material availability

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development

  • Provide leadership to Production Supervisors and plant employees , ensuring they have the necessary tools and training to perform their jobs effectively and safely.
  • Mentor and develop Production Supervisors , identifying areas for improvement and providing training opportunities.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Operational Oversight & Process Improvement

  • Oversee all production and packaging activities , ensuring efficiency and adherence to quality and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with Planning and Operations teams to align production schedules with business demands and customer requirements.
  • Utilize Lean Manufacturing principles to drive process improvements and cost reductions.
  • Implement and oversee SAP for production tracking and inventory management .
  • Monitor and optimize plant performance through KPI tracking and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Actively participate in the design and execution of new production investments to support business growth.

Quality, Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with USDA, HACCP food safety and quality regulations.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment , implementing OSHA-compliant safety policies .
  • Provide leadership in slicing department operations , ensuring efficiency and quality.

Supply Chain & Procurement Coordination

  • Work closely with purchasing teams to ensure timely procurement of raw materials and auxiliary supplies.
  • Optimize material flow and inventory management to prevent supply chain disruptions.

Communication & Reporting

  • Prepare and present production, safety, and quality reports to senior leadership.
  • Lead daily/weekly production meetings to discuss challenges and improvements.
  • Act as the primary liaison between production staff and upper management .

KPI Expectations

The Production Manager will track and improve key performance indicators (KPIs), including:

  • Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) – Maximizing uptime, performance, and quality output.
  • Yield Optimization – Reducing waste and ensuring raw material efficiency.
  • Labor Efficiency – Managing workforce productivity and optimizing shift planning.
  • Downtime Reduction – Minimizing unplanned equipment failures.
  • Cost per Unit – Controlling production costs while maintaining quality.
  • On-Time Delivery – Ensuring timely production and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in a food manufacturing environment , preferably in meat processing, deli products, or ready-to-eat food production .
  • Strong knowledge of USDA, HACCP regulations.
  • Experience managing Production Supervisors and a Maintenance Manager .
  • Proficiency in SAP for production and inventory management.
  • OSHA knowledge is a plus for plant safety improvements.
  • Experience in slicing department operations is a strong plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP/SAP .
  • Ability to work flexible hours to support plant operations as needed.
