AS A FULL-TIME SCHOOL LEADER, YOU WILL HOLD THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF: STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT As the School Leader, you are responsible for:Meeting the academic goals established by the Academy's Authorizer.Systematically using standardized and formative assessment data to guide learning support and drive instruction, curriculum, and professional development.Facilitating the use of a curriculum that is structured in a manner designed to help the school and students achieve the required objectives of the Michigan Accountability Program, M-STEP, PSAT 8, NWEA MAP and ESSA. SCHOOL DEVELOPMENT As the School Leader, you will:Lead the implementation of activities to meet and exceed the measurable goals for the Academy.Prepare or oversee the preparation of reports, lists, and all other paperwork for which the School Leader is responsible.Assume responsibility for observance of Board policies and regulations.Budget school time to provide for efficient use of time for instruction and business.Establish a master schedule to ensure compliance with instructional time requirements at the Academy.Lead the ongoing development of the instructional program and student activities program.Keep the Superintendent informed of routine matters related to administration, instruction, or events and activities of unusual nature.Create and implement school improvement plans consistent with the school's charter contract. SCHOOL CULTURE AND BEHAVIOR As the School Leader, you must:Establish and maintain an effective learning climate in the school.Maintain active relationships with students and parents/guardians.Hold and maintain high standards of student conduct; communicate and enforce the Code of Student Conduct firmly, fairly, and consistently in total compliance with due process procedures.Design and carry out a comprehensive student activities program to recognize student achievement.and to create opportunities for student participation in school-sponsored organizations.Make arrangements for conferences between parents and teachers when needed.Create a school culture in which collaboration and collegiality guide relationships and decision-making.Provide adequate inventories of real and personal property under his/her jurisdiction for the security and accountability of that property.Supervise and evaluate the Academy's extracurricular programs. MANAGEMENT AND DEVELOPMENT OF PEOPLE, SYSTTEMS, AND RESOURCES As the School Leader, you will carry out:The responsibility for professional growth and development through membership and participation in the affairs of professional organizations through attendance at regional, state, and national meetings, enrollment in advanced courses, by reading professional journals and other leadership or management publications, and by discussing problems of mutual interest with others in the field.Supervision of professional, instructional aides, administrative, and nonprofessional personnel of the Academy.Assistance in recruiting, screening, hiring, training, assigning, and evaluating the Academy's staff.Providing a comprehensive onboarding program for new staff and assists in their development.Evaluating and coaching all staff members regarding their individual and group performance.Conducting productive staff meetings to keep members informed of policy changes, new programs, etc.Recommending the discipline and or removal of an employee whose work performance is unsatisfactory to the Superintendent.Delegating to responsible personnel to assume responsibility for the Academy.Communicating effectively and timely with all stakeholders with consistency and follow-through.Supervising the integrity of accurate records of student progress and attendance of students. OPERATIONS As the School Leader, you will oversee:Supervision of the maintenance of all required building records and reports.Coordination of all services of the Academy, including transportation, food service, playground supervision and safety, special services, etc.Responsibility for the use, safety, and administration of the school buildings and grounds.Plans, supervises, and regularly reports fire drills, tornado drills, the emergency preparedness program, and other health, safety and security regulations in accordance with state regulations.Systems to ensure compliance with all authorizer, state compliance regulations, including pupil accounting. STUDENT RECRUITMENT AND ADMISSION As the School Leader, it is your duty to:Assist in developing and implementing a marketing plan to recruit and retain students for the school. COMMUNITY RELATIONS As the School Leader, it is essential that you:Cooperate with college and university officials regarding teacher training and preparation.Assume responsibility for all official Academy correspondence and news releases approved by the Superintendent.Establish and maintain relationships with local community groups and individuals to foster understanding and solicit support for overall Academy objectives and programs.Interpret Board policies and administrative directives to discuss and resolve individual student problems.Serve as a member of committees and attend such meetings as directed by the Superintendent. REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:Current Michigan School Administrator certification or enrolled in a program leading to School Administrator certification within six months after the start of employment.The ability to create and execute clear, logical plans by leveraging large systems.The motivation and drive necessary to ensure that instructional-specific conversations are taking place throughout the school through practices intentionally designed to focus conversations and efforts on improving the instruction of every teacher.The ability to motivate others and influence their behaviors around the collective responsibility of educating students.The desire to sustain an effective system of shared leadership and responsibility within the school through relentless follow-up and ownership for results.The ability to develop relationships with staff specifically focused on helping every classroom teacher become a stronger instructional leader and deepening practice.A strong dedication to the success of the whole child and family.The ability to use technology as an instructional tool, as a means of analyzing academic achievement data, and as a tool to aid effective communication.Excellent verbal and written communication using proper grammar and vocabulary.Successful experience as a teacher and/or school leader.
