Ability to develop long-range plans Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignments including students, parents and school personnel EDUCATION AND TRAINING: Must hold or be eligible to hold a North Carolina teaching license 2 or more years in a related position preferred Experience coordinating parent/family engagement events Experience interpreting and applying data Knowledge of curriculum, instructional strategies, and resources Knowledge of the NC accountability and testing models Spanish language proficiency preferred TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 10 months SALARY: North Carolina Teacher Salary Schedule FLSA Status: Exempt PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop a district-wide parent and family engagement plan in partnership with Title I school site leaders to coordinate major events, district-wide initiatives involving parents, and district-wide parent engagement activities. Assist with the coordination of policies and procedures designed to promote and maintain effective relationships and understanding between the school district, parents, and community. Plan and provide regular parental support and engagement activities as specified for family engagement at district and site level. Work collaboratively with the Chief of Communications to design and utilize media to introduce parents to the school district and enhance school/community relations. Implement and monitor a variety of family engagement programs and strategies across Title I schools. Provide technical support to Title I school sites in the creation of a welcoming school environment, such as providing school tours, annual Title I meetings, and orientation sessions for new families. Support Title I schools in developing an outreach strategy to inform families, businesses, and the community about involvement opportunities, policies and programs; provide guidance to schools in the development and enlistment of volunteers. Support existing family resources at Title I schools to connect families and help them support their child's learning, build families' strengths and capacities, serve as a hub for the community, and offer help without stigma by mobilizing the public and providing community resources to help children and families in need. Direct the preparation and maintenance of a variety of narrative and statistical reports, records, correspondence, and files related to assigned services, activities and operations. Plan and coordinate training for parents on how to access site, district, and community information. Attend district, community, and collaborative partners meetings to promote the effective involvement and inclusion of stakeholders in the decision-making process. Communicate and collaborate with administrators, district personnel, and outside organizations to coordinate activities and programs, and exchange information, model district standards of ethics and professionalism. Take part in opportunities for professional development at the local, regional, and/or state level; attend local meetings and training for parent involvement activities; share ideas and experiences with school or district staff, leadership team, and/or other parent professionals. Seek and obtain grants, cultivate fiscal partnership opportunities, and manage budgets applicable to parent and community engagement programs. Work with the EL Division to provide support for WIDA Screeners for students identified as EL learners. Provide support to parents and teachers in understanding and utilizing results for WIDA screeners and other assessment data and instructional programs. Work to connect EL families with their children's schools. Performs other duties as assigned. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to be physically active, which includes, but is not limited to, standing, pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, sitting and walking. Ability to reach with hands and arms routinely. Ability to operate technology for prolonged periods of time. Ability to carry furniture such as tables and chairs, supplies, materials, and equipment. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. Must be able to visually and auditorily effectively communicate with staff and students.
